Jason Winton

Founding Partner

Jason Winton

A founding partner in the firm, Jason has driven the firm’s specialism in the area of leasehold enfranchisement. He acts for a wide variety of private client and property investor leaseholders, acting for them in independent lease extensions and collective actions such as freehold acquisitions and exercising the “right-to-manage”.

He also acts for a number of landlords, with portfolios ranging from single digits to substantial holdings in the hundreds.

Whether acting for landlord or tenant, Jason is often instructed to take matters to the First-tier Tribunal for a determination of terms in dispute. Although such referrals often end in settlement before they reach a hearing, the firm tends to obtain several decisions each year and has also taken matters further, to the Lands Chamber of the Upper Tribunal.

Jason frequently litigates in the county court, in matters where a freeholder cannot be found or has refused to respond to a statutory notice. He has acted for several landlords in defending such actions.

As one of the firm’s notaries, Jason is often called upon to notarise documents for use in foreign jurisdictions. He also arranges legalisation of documents via the Foreign Office and/or specific foreign embassies, when required.
