We frequently encounter a wide range of legal documents that require notarial intervention. Wherever possible, please bring the document to your appointment in the form in which it is to be signed, together with any instructions you have received from the lawyer or authority abroad.
To help us quote the fee for a particular transaction, and to check that the document is ready to be signed, we would ask you to email us a copy in advance. If the document has been prepared abroad we may also need to know which country it is for, so that we can advise on any legalisation required.

Personal documents
- Powers of attorney for use abroad
- Affidavits, statutory declarations and sworn statements
- Contracts, deeds and transfers relating to land overseas
- Consents to travel for children, and documents for international adoption
- Certified copies of passports, driving licences and other identity documents
- Certified copies of degree certificates, professional qualifications and academic transcripts
- Applications for visas, residence and citizenship
Company documents
- Memoranda and articles of association
- Certificates of incorporation and of good standing
- Board resolutions and minutes
- Powers of attorney granted by companies
- Certificates of incumbency and confirmation of directors and shareholders
- Documents for opening overseas bank accounts or branches
What to bring
- Original photographic identification: a current passport or photocard driving licence
- Proof of your address dated within the last three months, such as a utility bill or bank statement
- For company documents, evidence of your authority to sign, such as a board resolution, and the company’s constitutional documents
- The document itself, unsigned unless we have told you otherwise
